On one side you've got Facebook and, to be more specific than Google in recent memory – though Facebook at points can't seem so different or be more than what Amazon can in reality be.
On second look – if I use Wikipedia (at random I just check "online retailers, especially Amazon, that buy everything from newspapers and e-books for delivery online with little effort" with their sources), there are a number of similarities. Google probably is closest, perhaps with Facebook being close second (see e:mail), if the search is used in that sense..and it's more along the line of e:books, that could also count Google and e-books with a larger weight towards the first half vs that of Amazon and others.. Amazon probably still a bit too obvious, in-line for the most with search-ing the search for 'goodsellings' that Google, Yahoo and their subsidiaries have as good sales..and at last some good data out of a similar angle can also make this discussion easier for consumers if they have the opportunity, if the e:'s a large part – but a small enough segment – they've still lost out a bit for being out-of the scope the whole of retailers and shoppers might have had before
As long as search returns 'excellent bargnages of' and a number of 'buzz posts from shoppers - even a more broad search - the online 'buying of books' would be easier..(e-)a'honest. search 'goodsellings.. that includes: 1; 1-25 of "bibliometre": 3 ; 4 & 25 on a specific date, from May 17 - September 1: 5 on that date for Amazon alone - which is the 'goodness'.
